Open-Source ROV Kit
CerebroX has developed an open-source ROV starter kit for advanced middle and high school learners
participating in the MATE ROV competition. It is designed to teach through hands-on teamwork;
students are given step-by-step instructions through a detailed manual that walks them through every
step of assembling the electronic, mechanical, and structural components of their first ROV.
Two Possible Configurations
The instructions offer two final designs that they can decide from, opening them up to team
discussions about advantages and disadvantages of each design. After completing their design and
testing it, they are more than ready to begin putting their own special touches on their design by
modifying, replacing, or adding components or features.
